Sometimes the words just don’t come as easily as other times.
This could be because of life stressors, (work, family, chores, etc.), it could be because we don’t have a clear picture of what the story is, or maybe the evil mind squirrels are just missing some pertinant tid bit of info that we didn’t realize we needed.
And any writer will tell you, a story forced is no where as good as a story that flows from your finger tips.
Sometimes you just need to take a step back, and do something else for a change, which could really be anything.
Take a walk, weed the garden, do the dishes, ect. The main point, is stop trying to force the story. Do something else for a bit and let your mind wander. You’ll be surprised where the thoughts might take you.
A great example was the cabin trip me and the Word Witch took this past weekend for our anniversary.

No kids, no chores, and no responsibilities other than spending time with each other.
Besides binge watching a large chunck of Supernatural, we tossed around ideas for the Braxton novel series while chilling in the hot tub.
Never doubt the value of bouncing ideas, or even having someone around that can be there to listen, when all you’re doing is talking your way through the idea. It’s a great way to ooen up that blockage of thought and get the creative juices flowing again.
That being said, I’ve picked up a new dream project to build and teach the kids some mechanical skills at the same time.
Meet Cheryl
My new to me 1966 Chevy Biscayne with an Oldsmobile 455 Rocket backed by a TH400 transmission.

For a 60 year old car, she’s crazy solid.
And of course, we’ve been tossing around a few paint ideas. I’m yhinking Aztec Bronze with some custom black trimming. (Model car is the Aztec Bronze)

And, as a cool little side note, I recently received a surprise package in the mail, containing miniatures of myself as a new “super fan” character in the Car Wars game series.

How cool is that?

Listening To
If you’re a fan of Type-O Negative, you need to give Paradise Lost a listen. Great sound, and they have that Type-O vibe.
Writing Tip
Step away, take a break, and let the mibd squirrels wander for a moment.
